Google Transit Could Be Coming to Saskatoon
Sunday, 16 January 2011
Saskatoon Transit is hoping to partner with Google Maps.
The program, called Google Transit, is available in other cities.
Mitch Riabko, Saskatoon Transit Manager says subject to City Council's approval the department could move into a testing phase and launch the service before the end of March.
The changes mean passengers could enter their starting point and then their destination into Google Transit and the system would tell them what routes to take and how far they'll have to walk between bus stops.
Riabko says, from the City's end, there's no charge to sign on to Google Transit but there would be a maintenance cost when route changes are made and staff have to work with Google to ensure correct information is available.
I am thinking the money should be spent on lessons in the following area. These are things I see everyday i ride the bus not all the drivers do it but a enough do it for me to take notice.
1. Buses maintence crews : how to clean a buses and wash the floors
2. Lessons for saskatoon bus drivers in the customer service if it was for the those who ride the bus you would not have a job bucko
3. Teach some buse drivers that red light does not mean Go !
4. When stopping a bus at a stop please make sure you are near the cur. And your back is not front of a poll.
5. And another thing be on time at stop is a good time not 10 mins early . So you can be the 1st downtown for the bathroom or coffee and a smoke, being a little late is OK.
This is my wish list. Is going to happen not sure my next wish list is going to be on Cab drivers. stayed tuned what do think of my list what did I miss. what is the story in town when it comes to public Transit?
Tell now. And then Call City Hall.
